Ron Schankin

Ronald Schankin is a retired FDNY firefighter and former NYC police officer. He has also been a volunteer firefighter on Long Island for the last 42 years.  Ron’s youngest child, Jeremy (age 20), suffers from Stargardt’s Disease which has left him legally blind. Ron has a legacy of volunteerism including coaching his daughter’s softball team, his sons’ baseball teams and serving on the Executive Board of St. Hugh – St. Elizabeth Little League where Ron was responsible for running the boys minor division. Ron has also served as a den leader and assistant Cub Master for Pack 66 in Huntington. Ron enjoys giving to his community and is grateful that his son, Jeremy, is a member of NYMBH.
